The houses are in this set because there is a continuous style in the design of them, which then brings to the [far out] images a bold geometrical almost symmetrical pattern. This pulls the viewers attention to various aspects of the image, taking in details such as the neatness that almost makes the houses look unlived in. From distance, the houses appear almost as blank slates; there appears very little difference between them and there is no obvious signs to say that the houses featured are in fact homes. The detail images then help to hone the viewer in to a small feature of the house that is not as perfect and clean as it would first appear. This is to help visually articulate to the viewer the idea that the estates are not so perfect and reinforces a more realistic view of it.

Compositionally the images of the houses work because they are framed in the same manner and shot from the same perspective creating, in effect, a batch of houses. The details should also all have been shot from the same angles more or less or at least with a particularly tighter frame running through out to create an accompanying batch of detail shots.

In hindsight the other image of the decayed wood is better compositionally in terms of the work flowing visually and I think I would substitute it for the current image of decaying wood. I would also be tempted to reshoot the window with the ‘mon englan’ sticker remements in the window tighter as to give it more impact.

The images feature bold colours through out, the aim of this is to really emphasize the utopian idea of the design of the estate, accentuate the houses features and give an idyllic feel, the strength blue sky particularly adds to this. The strength of the colours also helps to create a very clear and almost crisp feel to the images, which as well as being visually invigorating almost gives the images a magazine-esqe feel to them which adds to the ideas of perfection that accompany the houses.

Given the subject matter, effectively the impact of Globalisation on housing, I think the concept could be quite attractive in the current art markets as the notions of place and space are being questioned more and more often. I do not see the work as a gallery installation as I do not think the work has enough to it so to speak. Instead I think it would have more chance appearing in an online magazine such as a relavently themed edition of purpose or f-stop or perhaps seesaw. Realistically however, I think the project could do with a lot more work before it becomes marketable.

I have attempted to gain some industry feedback however I have recieved no replies as of yet. Below are screen shots of some emails I sent [to working photographers], the other person [a etching technician and working artist] I asked over the phone also hasnt got back to me.
