Clubs in Leeds

I shot these in Leeds just to get a feel for the project really.
They are not all CIU affiliated, just social clubs in East Leeds.

Double check road names and spellings.

Estate Three

I have been exploring new housing developments as a possibility of being the subject for my project. I have been around a few Bellway developments in the Leeds area but they did not really meet my standards. I have previously been around the new estates being built in and around the Blackpool area for the Mishka Henner brief at the begining of September. I was then informed of a development in nearby town Lytham.

The development Lytham Quays is an active site that has been active for over 4 years continuously expanding. With living spaces varying from 2 bed appartments to penthouses and from smaller 2 to 4 bed mews housing through to 5 bed detahched, Lytham Quays has over 200 properties within the development as so I felt it would likely present some interesting opportunities photographically.

These are some images from my first visit.  These styles of houses are from which I can pick to pursue and form a series from. There are other types but are much smaller or are town houses (terraces) which i do not want to photograph as i do not want to create a linear row of images so to speak (as tried earlier in Manchester).

I particularly like the blue skies and the more vibrant colours in these images compared to the duller images I have been getting recently, this is more like the halfway point deadline images, with a bit of punch.

[this is more to show how many there are and to give
a general overview rather than be used as part of a series]

Row Seven

One suggestion I had was to create a long image like Steffi Klenz work. The best place I could think of to trial this is an estate on the edge of Salford. The first images show a few rows of houses taken from further back to give an idea of what they look like.

This image below shows one of the hosues closer in. I shot all the houses in the rows below in this manner and then tried to piece them together to see the outcome.

These two rows are off the same hosues, with one i cropped the width down more so there wasnt as much over lapping of the hosues.
Whilst the rows do look interesting, I don't really just want to go and do exactly what someone else has. As well as this I am suppose to be moving on to more 'luxery' housinig estates.

Estate Two

In the same housing estate as the previous couple of images I photographed this set of four houses. In terms of composition I think i can say with some certainty that this is my chosen framing and what not. I find that the house being centre frame helps to attract the eye to view its overall appearence with a little of its surroundings, particularly the driveways and front gardens (note: this is blocked in 3 of the images below, hopefully this will not be the case!) as they too are integral in the customisation of a hosue by its occupants.
I think this set works particularly well in that the houses are, from the exterior, pretty much identical although flipped horizontally in some cases. This helps to create more of a flow between the images.
All positive aside however, there is snow everywhere which has a major [negative] impact on the way these images stand. It also makes them look very flat.

I feel that although visually the work is starting to come together more, a set of 10 or so images all of an archetypal house isn't going to be able to clearly get across a particualerly clear translation of my intentions.
In order for this to work i need to find a way to boost the visual and bring more to the work.
