Waterloo

I have gotten bored of chasing people for the trades club. So i went back to waterloo because I know i can get access and also it has been there a long time and there is a great sense of community within the club - which is what i was looking for in the first place before the trades club showed up like some sort of red herring. So these are the images from my first few shoots in the club which I decided were worth scanning.

The club was purchased by Mark, the current owner, a couple of year ago. He said he was a member of the club who was told on the Friday it was closing so on the Monday he bought the club to save it.

These top three are from the original part of the club started in the early 20th century by two ladies who later emigrated to Australia. This room is unfortunately no longer used on a regular basis. Where as before it would have been open at the weekends, if not nightly, now it is used as a rentable space for parties etc... which helps to generate a major portion of the clubs income. The stage is a particular feature associated with WMC's as they nearly always had a turn on for entertainment.

These images are shot in the newer part of the club which is used daily. The room houses 3 snooker tables and a pool table. The walls are heavily decorated in part with sporting imagery predominantly football and horse racing. Interestingly however the club does not associate itself with a particular team, instead housing a whole variety of memorabilia and imagery.

Some notes on what to shoot from before i went
